Graduation Dinner NYC
 

DD graduation dinner in May. Not 100% sure how many but my guess is 10. Her father and I will foot the bill. Moderate price. All adventurous eaters except her father, so need something for him. Nice wine list. My guess with drinks about ~$50 per person.

I don't think that $50 a person, and that $50 INCLUSIVE of drinks and good wine, is going to get you much in NYC. I think you need more money for the drinks and wine. Or find someplace that has BYOB and will let you bring in your own wine.

Check out Le Zie in Chelsea. They have a small back room and solid,reasonably priced Italian.

Yes, there are BYOB restaurants in NYC. They change from time to time. Sometimes they are newly opened restaurants that do not have their license yet, but there are some standbys that have been BYOB for a long time.

La Sirene is one, on Broome St. in the village. BYOB with NO corkage fee. It has been BYOB since it opened years ago. It is a small space, typically open for dinner only BUT they WILL do private lunches for up to 20 people. For dinnes you'd probably need to reserve half the table space if not more. Very good, we have been there a half dozentimes, alwys very good. And you can pre-order your wine from HUdson Wines (a block away, very reasonably priced)) and they will deliver the wine to the restaurant at no additional charge.

Add La Sirene to your list to check out, but hurry, spring books up at these places.

Agree that $50 with wine is extremey modest. If you will go for $50 and either BYOB or put wine and drinks on top of it that will make it much more doable.

Not sure what school and what neighborhood you need. And what type food. More info would help.

There are byob lists for NYC all over the internet. Here's one from opentable http://www.opentable.com/promo.aspx?m=8&pid=370 Some only do it on certain days of the week. Capsouto Freres is on that list and a very pretty restaurant with some good prix fixe menus.

Kuma Inn is BYOB; like many BYOB places, they charge a very modest corkage fee of $5 per wine bottle. Thai "fusion," might please the more adventurous eaters but nothing will be too extreme.

There are quite a few restaurants that allow BYOB one night per week, often Mondays.

APIARY (Third Avenue/ 11th Street) has a solid French-influenced menu and a Monday BYOB/no corkage night. They also offer $35 prix fixe dinners Tues thru Thursdays and Sundays. I don't think it gets talked much about on this forum but it is a good place to keep in mind. Can get noisy.

Thanks everyone! She graduates from FIT and lives in W village. Lezie would be very convenient.
I will personally try la sirene but afraid that might not have enough variety and the ex might not like anything on that menu.
