Gps preference...
 

Just wondering what your thoughts are on the brand and model of a gps. I have been reading the reviews on a Garmin c340. ((c))

I have the Garmin Nuvi 350 and love it! It is portable so its nice to able to use it with any car (comes in handy with rentals) plus it is small enough to take with you if you plan to do a lot of walking around a city you are unfamiliar with.

I have the C330, but for the extra $50, I would go for the C340. You will not be unhappy. The Nuvi 350 will run an extra $200 over the C340.

I'll 2nd the Garmin Nuvi. Fantastic unit that travels well. Suction cup mount works nicely, but you don't have to use it. While traveling I have used it just sitting on the console. Speaks street names instead of just 'turn right in 1/4 mile'. Screen resolution is great. I got a great deal by buying mine from Amazon (less that $700).

I was thinking about a Garmin map 60 cx for DH's birthday. Runs about $350 with a $50 rebate available. Any input?

For what it's worth, my wife has the Magellan (Roadmate 760) and loves it. We decided on it mainly because we've had it previously when renting cars from Hertz so were already familiar with it.
Very easy to use. Kinda pricey though.

My only experience with the Magellan was in Hertz rental cars (twice). I didn't find it as user friendly as the Garmin.

Having said that, you need to personally get out there and "test drive" some of the different models to see which one and options fit your personal needs. ((b))

Topping for lin

I just replaced my StreetPilot III with a 2730. Less than $800 through Amazon. Biggest plus is that it covers the entire country down to street level without having to download anything. I set the language to a crisp British nanny voice so that I would pay attention.
