Good travel agent in the Florida Keys?
Hello all...

We're planning a honeymoon to Key West in May 2001, and wanted to find the name of a good travel agent in the Keys. If anyone can give information about agents that they've worked with, I would truly appreciate it.

Is anyone there particularly good? Awful? Reliable? Unreliable? Do any of them offer nice discounts? I've looked through the list of travel agents on www.keywest.com, but if anyone can offer help with a starting point, that would be wonderful :)

We plan on staying more than a week, and are more interested in the guest houses/bed and breakfasts than hotels.

Thanks so much for your time and help. The advice and discussions on these boards are top notch!

-joanne.

You can use any travel agent to book a package for Key West, not just those in the keys. Also, if you've already decided on the keys as the spot, and are just looking for a guesthouse/BB there are plenty of posts on the subject here, just run a search for Key West, etc.

Hello again...

We were thinking of using a travel agent based in Key West in the hopes that they might have better first-hand information on lodging, and perhaps special deals that are a part of being in the same area as the accomodations they book.

We've run searches on the boards for Key West, and we're always on the lookout for more information :) A local travel agent just seemed like the next step. Any experiences or suggestions, anyone?

-joanne.

I can suggest the name (rather the email address) of someone who used to be a travel agent in Key West, but who moved to Vermont last year when her husband died. Before that, she was quite helpful with all kinds of questions I had, and if she doesn't have current information I'm sure she could direct you to someone reliable who does. Her email is [email protected]

You can probably do just as well doing a search on this site as you can using a travel agent. Agents are in it to make commissions and they will steer you toward the property that gives them the most commission money. Sometimes that is not necessarily cheaper or in your best interest. Key West is pretty popular on this site, you should find some good info.

If you want a good travel agent, you are probably going to find them using larger hotels, since they get paid by the hotel and airline directly.

If you are looking for a B&B, try looking it up on some B&B sites. Travel agents in your area, would have access to the same information and would be able to help you with planning.

Also travel agents would be able to tell you about package deals that are made for honeymooners, which can include airfare, hotel and meals.

May is a bit off season so you should get some good rates on hotel and maybe airfare.

Good luck and congratulations.
