Good Sushi
I want to have the best sushi the city has to offer. Where can I go that would be a good date atmosphere????

hd,
I'm guessing you mean NYC even though nowhere in your title or your message do you mention New York. Based on the price & demand, the best sushi will be at Masa Sushi. The best part about Masa is the fixed price - all dinners cost the same so it's very predictable. |
Oh, I forgot to mention, the fixed price is $300 per person.

My vote is for Nobu. Also a bit pricey....If you're looking for more reasonable sushi, Taka on the corner of Bleecker St & Grove is very high quality.

Jewl Bako,Nobu, all upscale and expensive but not 300 per person. For more casual Japonica-good sushi but just ok atmosphere,Also Ono,great for a date in meat-packing district.Check out gayot.com or city search for more choices.
I am curious has anyone been to Massa and what do you think.I love fine dinning but have never payed 300 per person just for the meal. |
Three of the best sushi places in NYC are Sushi of Gari on the Upper East Side, Jewel Bako in the East Village and Kuruma Zushi in midtown. If you want the true sushi experience, reserve seats at the sushi bar and ask for "omakase," or chef's choice. You can tell the chef how much you want to spend but it will probably be close to $100 per person. If you choose from the menu, of course, you will spend far less. By the way, neither Nobu nor Japnonica are considered to be among the top places for sushi, although both are very popular. Sushi in general would not make for a romantic evening since you will be sitting at the sushi bar for the true experience.
