Would Row V, seats 103-105 be good seats? They appear to be, but I noted they are in front of the orchestra. Some other available tickets were row G, right stage, which appeared to be near the wall and didn't seem good.

Your comment seemed to make no sense until I looked at a seating chart and saw what you meant. No V is not "in front of the orchestra", but about 26 rows back from it. It is the 6th row from the very back and under the balcony. I think you saw the word "orchestra" printed at the bottom of that section, but it only meant that is the entire orchestra section of seating -- not the musical orchestra. If you look up, you'll see that the stage and real orchestra are the other direction.

Personally I like being a lot closer, but good seats are hard to come by for Wicked. While I don't like being against the wall, just being three or four seats in from the "wall" but much closer to the stage would be my preference. Although many have reported they loved seeing it from way back, even further back in the mezzanine or balcony. The Gerswhin seats are comfortable and they are sort of "stadium" style, meaning stepped up so that you have minimal problems with heads in front of you in any case.

If you don't mind paying a bit of a premium, www.applause-tickets.com often has good seats for Wicked at not too over the top prices.

The first time I saw it in NY, we were in the very last row- and still had good visibility. Another place to look for tickets is stubhub.com. I've had good luck with them. It is a great show, though it is helpful if you get the soundtrack and are a little familiar with the songs before the show (my general belief about musicals). The lyrics are so clever.

I saw Wicked from the front of the Mezz. Its a big show with lots happening all over the place so I felt that being elevated gave an excellent perspective.

So, if you had your choice, would you choose Orchestra Row E, seats 9-13 (on the side) OR Front Mezzanine Row A, Seats 22-26 (also on the side)?

We had mezzanine front-row seats 117 & 118 and thought they were just perfect. IMHO, if you must be on the side, the mezzanine is better, at least for this show.

One caution: there's a high-ish railing that obscures part of the view if you're sitting in the mezzanine front row and you're less than about 5'5" tall. My vertically-challenged adult daughter ended up sitting on our folded coats, just like when she was a little kid at the movies. We got our tickets at the last minute and figured that might be the reason they were available.
