good resturants in san diego

since everyone's advice was so helpful, could anyone recommend a couple good places to eat. My husband doesn't go for the fancy places, but we both like to enjoy our food. Thanks,

Price range?
Type of cuisine?

Here's a couple of spots in San Diego and beyond:

But I agree, you need to be more specific on price and cuisines.

My two favorites are Crab Catcher in La Jolla. Great view of the cove and good food without being to fancy. In the Gas Lamp District, Croce's is a great choice. Reasonably priced good food with a jazz band in the bar most nights. Owned by the widow of Jim Croce, singer from the 70's.

Do you like big portions? The only thing I didn't really care for at the Hash House a Go Go (recommended by a local poster here) was that the portions were gigantic. But the food was really wonderful and it has been voted all kinds of awards (also famous for breakfast). Very casual and laid back. A very unique place. In the Hillcrest area.

Here's a website and you can check out the menu for San Diego. Until I just looked this up, I didn't realize they now also have a couple of other locations.

In the Hillcrest area:
Hash House, Crest Cafe, Bread & Cie.
Coronado:
Brigantine, Miguels Mex. Cantina, Tent City.
La Jolla:
Piatti's Restaurante
ZenBu (sushi)
Downtown:
Croche is popular and food is good
Point Loma:
Point Loma Seafood (very casual)
Pacific Beach:
Gringo's (mexican),
Costa Bravo (spanish)
These are just a few of the casual, laid back restaurants - nice, good food, not fancy.

Price really doesn't matter, but I hate to spend a lot if the food isn't good. We both like italian, barbeque, and steaks. I'll check out those web sites, and thanks, again.

Hear good things about George's Modern in La Jolla, and of course Market in Del Mar is still a hot place

If you like BBQ - I can recommend a very good place on Rosecrans Street in Point Loma near the Sports Arena.

It's called Phil's BBQ. It's very popular with the locals and the line is out the door - but it moves pretty fast.

For excellent seafood, Anthony's at the wharf. For more variety, the Prado in Balboa Park.
