Good Restaurants in Key West
 
My family and I are going to Key West for the weekend and we all love great food (who doesn't). Any suggestions for restaurants on the island?

Do a back search on this board and you'll find more good restaurants than you'd have time for in a month! For a one of a kind experience, try Blue Heaven. "Dining" is outside on picnic tables with chickens walking around all over the place. There are countless others...if we could just have a little info about what you're thinking of. Expensive, moderate? Casual?

Thank you for the suggestion about Blue Heaven, I hear that is a great place. We are mostly looking for moderately priced restaurants and something casual. As far as cuisine goes, I was particularly wondering about where to get good seafood. I hear almost any restaurant in Key West serves pretty good seafood since most of it is so fresh but, is there any place that you would recommend over others?

Try the Half Shell Raw Bar on Key West Bight. The fish is absolutely fresh and you can have it cooked to your own specifications. This is strictly a casual place...paper plates/plastic forks. But it's always our first stop in Key West and the fish is wonderful.

Louie's Backyard. Period. I would fly down for the nite from here in New England just for the atmosophere. If you happen to be in Islamorada )( mid Keys) you must try "The Conch" ( aka ziggy's). i was there with my parents in the late 60's when Ziggy himself was still presiding. his son is in charge now. the place doesnt look like much ( i hope its still there. i was there some 10 years ago!) but the food and hospitality are unmatched. its on the right as you go TOWARDS key West.

For moderate priced, casual seafood, try Bahama Mama's. <BR> <BR>I know I've mentioned this on another thread - almost every restaurant there posts the menu outside. Walk around and see what sounds good.
