Good Pre-Theatre Restaurant

I would like to know any good, reasonably priced, pre-show restaurants near (walking distance) the St. James Theatre (246 West 44th Street). Are open to any types of cuisine. Thanks.

Dervish, a Turkish restaurant has a decent pre-theater prix fixe menu (around $20). It's on 47th St, between 6th and 7th avs.

Hourglass Tavern - the claim is that they'll get you in and out within an hour so it's good for pre-theatre. Very reasonable, good food, but it's basically a daily specials menu so not a whole lot of selection but they had basically one choice of everything - beef, chicken, fish, shellfish, veggie, even veal and lamb. It's right down the restaurant row area.

What do you consider reasonable? It helps if you give a $ amount.

We went to Angus McIndoe which is right next to the St. James after the show on Saturday and I thought it was very good. The Producers was great. Enjoy!

If you like Japanese, I would suggest Haru. there are several in NYC and one in the theater district.

I agree with MFNYC about Dervish.

We also like Zen Palate, a a beautiful place that serves delicious vegetarian Asian food.

My daughter & I enjoyed Virgil's BBQ. Very good food & friendly service.

I walked down 46th around Broadway (aka Restaurant Row) and looked over the menus posted outside the restaurants. I'm pretty eclectic about food, but honestly nothing looked all that special to me with one exception: B. Smith's. We couldn't go there that evening because they were closed during filming for a TV segment.

Has anyone on this board been to B. Smith's? I'm interested in a review.
