I am the guy that posted the Spring Break 3/16 to 3/21 message below--New York City Spring Break Itinerary ready for review (family of 5 --3 daughters age 14, 10, 8) I got one of those E-mails this AM from Good Morning America re picked for studio audience on 3/19 (I never watch any of those show really)--a few weeks ago I e-mailed several shows to see If I might get picked--anyone know about this "experience"?

Also on 3/18 I am doing opera at Met at 1:30 with one of my daughters --I was thinking we might eat before on Upper West side--which is more feasible Barney Greengrass or Zabar for good snack and some pre-show adventure? --kinda like to try sturgeon king--maybe could then stop at Zabars also? thanks

This confirmation is for inside the studio.(But please see note above)

The show tapes live from 7:00 - 9:00 a.m. The show ends promptly at 9:00 a.m. and all guests may leave the studio.

Restrooms are available for guests. We also make accommodations for disabled guests.

There is no age limit on guests. Babies and infants are welcome.

Children under 18 do not need identification.

You may bring a camera.

Please bring lots of colorful, imaginative signs!

You may arrive earlier than 6:15 a.m. If you choose to arrive early, how early is up to you.

You will have an opportunity to take photographs with the hosts, provided there is no news emergency.

We cannot tell you in advance who is on the show due to confidentiality issues.

Barney Greengrass is very authentic old school Jewish food-- you won't get service with a smile here, but its very yummy! Zabar's is more grocery store than dining place, so eat at Barney Greengrass and do a stroll through Zabar's to pick up a snack on way down to the Met. Only one catch-- Barney's is further north, so a but more of a walk down to Met. Its a Sunday, so go with PLENTY of time to spare to make sure you have enough time to eat and walk!

Au contraire, Zabars has an upstairs cafe that's really good. They have some breakfast stuff, and lots of lunch items.

Zabar's does not have a second floor restaurant. Fairway has the second floor restaurant. Zabar's has a street level fast food operation. No tables, no waiter service.

I haven't been in over a year, so unless you mean it's closed now, it certainly does have a cafe. Look it up on menupages.com.

The Zabars "cafe" is (and always has been) a counter in the middle of the storefront right next door to the main store.(I live right nearby and am in the store a couple of times a week) Pick up premade sandwiches , or a knish and a drink , and stand or sit on a stool.
Fairway Cafe is the upstairs restaurant that is pretty casual and inexpensive for lunch/brunch and more of a steakhouse menu (though not exclusively anymore) at dinner
