Good Italian eating in Chicago
 

Would love some recommendations for good Italian restaurants in the greater Chicago area. Have recently been to Tuscany, Maggiano's and the Rosebud, and enjoyed all three (especially the large, square, flat pasta at Rosebud, can't remember the name!) Any others not to miss?

Try Scozzi's on the near north side-near Michael Jordan's & Planet Hollywood, Harry Carey's. My daughter took me there a couple of weeks ago. It was wonderful! Sorry I don't know the address.

Check out the little Italy section of Chicago--near the U of I Chicago Circle Campus. There used to be a wonderful little trattoria on Taylor Street, I think, but it's been about 10 years since we were there. Some help from Chicagoans????? <BR>

The bistros on Taylor Street seem to come and go-Rosebud and Tuscany are the mainstays. My two favorites are Carmine's on Rush Street (one of the Rosebud group) and Trattoria Dinotto on Wells-a small place that I may like more for the opera music that is played than for the food-although the food is good too.

I have had the pleasure of working (& eating) in the Fulton Market Area for the past 10 years. These are a few of my favorites - Danilo's on Halsted & Grand; La Bella Note' on Grand & Ogde (new but great); Tufano's on Vernon Park Place & Harrison; and Mart Anthony on Randolph and Aberdeen. They're no Scoozi but the food is great and the prices are reasonable. Pick up some bread or pizza from D'Amato's Bakery (a Chicago treasure) at Grand & May while you're at it and you may never want to leave town!

Try Genarro's on Taylor Street. Phone # 312-243-1035. Authentic Italian. Great stuffed eggplant, stuffed artichoke, braciole, etc. Fun joint, booths in the bar and tables in the back. Always crowded, and not always open on weekdays. Call to find address and hours. <BR> <BR>Steffano's on Fullerton is also good.
