Good hotels in Philadelphia?

I'm looking for a nice but hip hotel to stay in while I'm in Philly. Any suggestions?

Loews Philadelphia, pretty hip.

My husband and I stayed at the Holiday-Independence Mall on two different occasions because of its location. We could walk to all major historic sites and for greater distances we used the economical and convenient Phlash Bus to go out to the Art Museum and business district.

The open air roof top swimming pool may be of interest to you.

You can park in the adjacent parking garage for a reasonable daily fee.

Jane

Sheraton Society Hill.

I just stayed at the Sofitel on 18th St. this weekend and liked it very much. Has a modern, hip feel, rooms were very nice, we got a great rate, and it's very close to Rittenhouse Square and other sights.

Kristin: Glad to hear you enjoyed the Sofitel, it was definitely a better choice than the Latham. How did you find the rest of Philly and did you get to do that brunch?

Kristin Jun 11th, 2002 05:55 AM

(Brianne - sorry to hone in on your thread here!)

Yes, Frank, we had a great time, and we really liked the Sofitel (passed by the Latham while walking around and were happy with our choice). Sunday was gorgeous, and we had a lovely brunch on the patio at Opus, then wandered around the square and did some shopping. Didn't have much time, unfortunately, but it was a nice little getaway. Thanks for your help!

I know this posting is too late for Brianne, but just for the record I wouldn't classify the Sheraton Society Hill as a hip hotel. Nice, but not hip.

Topping for Cheryl

Thanks Frank! How thoughtful of you.

I would NOT recommend the Loews Philadelphia Hotel. The accomodations were nice (art deco), but the service was awful when I was there at the end of April this year. My whole group had multiple problems.

M:

Another word for Sheraton Society Hill would be classy.

Frank Jul 11th, 2002 01:10 PM

I wouldn't classify the Sheration Society Hill as classy, the name is deceiving. It's more like run-of-the-mill.

The Four Seasons is wonderful, in Philly, PA.
