Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced, nice hotel in Kauai?

You didn't state a price range, but the Radisson is a nice, recently renovated hotel that locted between the north & south shores.
Or you can try bidding for a hotel on priceline.com.
Use the online bulleten board
www.biddingfortravel.com
for advice and a review of winning Kauai bids from other people.

Anthony brought up a good pick.

We were just on Kauai 12-'01/1-'02 and stopped by the Rad to check it out since a lot of people were asking about it.

Looks like they did a good job on it.
It turns out that we ate our 10th wedding anniv/T'giving dinner there in '89 when it was the Hilton!

Real nice pool area. The beach there is nice but you have to walk a few yards to hit a good swimming area. Not too much of a hassle. You can snorkel there too.

Other reasonably priced hotels are found nearby on the Coconut Coast. Islander and the remodeled Beachboy come to mind.

You can still find some deals throughout the island.
Mahalo,
kal

This is a slow season for Hawaii/Kauai why not consider a condo for a few nights can't believe you would have trouble finding something that would break the one week policy.

I love the Kauai Marriot but you are very southernly there. I love the North Shore if you are there in Summer.
