Good Food in Napa?
All I read about is fancy french food in Napa. Is there any good food like a juicy burger, pizza or even a corn dog?
I hear you buddy. My first wife is dragging me out there for some kinda romantic get away. All she talks about is the wine and french restaurants. I better be able to find a cold Miller Lite somewhere or she's gonna be traded for a player to be named later.
I'll bet they don't even have decent french frys at those places!!
Does anybody know if there is a McDonalds or Taco Bell out there? How about a food store like a Winn Dixie or something? I'm stocking up on slim-jims for the trip.
No fellas, all they got is fancy restaurants out there. Stay in L.A., much better places to eat and plenty of bars.
L.A. - ain't that pretty far from Napa?
Not to bad. I've got a 40 gallon tank in my pickup and can make it on a little over half a tank.

Billy,

With your obvious romantic charms I bet the women are just lined up waiting for you to become available.

Candice

That wine sure can get me pretty well tanked though. Thats why I'm going. Some of that fancy food ain't too bad and some is mighty tasty. I guess I'mm becoming a connasore.
Candice, you ain't fat are ya? You type kinda pretty.
Where are ya baby? Do you recommend any good eaten places in Napa? I mean besides that Laundromat place everybody talks of.
Nope. All good places got washed out by the floods. They try to rebuild but the places get washed out faster then Fodor's deletes the posts.
Napa Valley is a "no beef" zone, like much of California. Strictly vegetarian. If you "know the right people", you may be able to get some fish.
Maybe some fried catfish and french frys? Now your talking!!
Go to the Red Hen Cantina on the west side of 29 in Yountville. Great Mexican---especially huevos rancheros. Actually can't think of a burger place!
But if you don't like our food and prefer to drink beer rather than wine, why are you coming? Mustard's has great french fries, but it doesn't sound like you'll have a good time anyway.
Taylor's Refresher in St. Helena has great burgers, fries, milk shakes, etc.

www.taylorsrefresher.com
There's an Olive Garden just over the hill in Rohnert Park.
Gillwoods on downtown Napa and St.Helena-great breakfasts and lunches: wonderful scones, hambergers, good coffee.
Mary's Pizza on Jefferson St. (middle of Napa) best pizza and Spaghetti in the Valley
Forget Marie Callenders on Highway 29 little north of Napa...
You can order a beer at the Laundry in Yountville. They will serve it to you in a crystal pilsner...but hey! you get your beer!

(we don't think they really stock it but run over to Antonio's house next door and ask him for a couple of cold ones whenever someone happens to order one)
Another thumbs up for Taylor's Refresher in St Helena but try the "Ahi Burger".
Best "ahi burger" I've had outside of Kauai!

Great fries and shakes. Very casual.
The burgers did look good, too.

As for pizza, I have to admit to going to Frankie, Johnny and Luigi's (yes-a small chain) in Yountville instead of walking up the addtl 3-4 blocks to the NapaV Grille a few weeks ago after a long bike ride. We just couldn't pass the garlicky smell comin' from the pizza oven....not to mention the charley horse in my calf!
Actually made a very good pie!

Bouchon's for beer and oysters!
Kal
