Good food in LA Chinatown

We will be in LA on Saturday at the museum of natural history. We want to go to Chinatown for dinner. What are the good restaurants to eat in?

Thanks

Sadly good Chinese food has been difficult to find in Chinatown for about 15 years and I don't have a recommendation.

Is there something else you might be interested in?

Chinatown is not so great but you can get very good ramen at Daikokuya in nearby Japantown on 1st St. The Kotteri (fatty pork broth) is a favorite. There's usually a line but it goes relatively quickly.

When we visit LA and decide on Chinese food, our daughter takes us out to Monterey Park and some other nearby towns.

Ooops. I thought that was supposed to be a preview.

I could get you a few suggestions out that way if you are interested.

Yup you should head out to the San Gabriel Valley for good Chinese but if it doesn't have to be Chinese, there are some good restaurants in downtown LA.
