My husband and I are are looking for deli's and asian, south american, or italian restaurants in central park south or upper east side area. Any great suggestions for a couple of adventurous San Diegian's?
Thanks much!
You won't find any on CPS, but the UES has literally hundreds of options, many within walking distance of CPS. A few that come to mind:

* Cabana on the west side of Third Ave between 60-61 Streets (just north of Bloomie's). Good neuvo latino food (Cuban/Caribbean primarily).

* Tony's Di Napoli on Second Ave between 83-84 Sts. Fun family-style Italian. Very popular neighborhood restaurant. Huge.

* Mangiarini. Across the street from Tony's. Very small and cozy Italian. Long waits are common.

My advice is to check www.zagat.com for other options that match your culinary desires, price range, etc. Enjoy!
Carnegie Deli is an experience you must try, if only once. It's crowded, the service is old-style New York "shove it in your face", the portions are huge and the food delicious. The place is a zoo, but worth a one-time effort.

Thanks for the suggestions! I got the Zagat guide also. New City has more restaurants in one square block than does all of San Diego...looking forward to the variety

carnegie deli is the quintessential deli in nyc. another good one is wolf's, on 57th street between 5th & 6th aves, just down the street from bergdorf goodman.
serafina's on 61 st. between madison & park avenue is a fun italian restaurant that is reasonably priced. make a reservation though.
there are even more choices for restaurants downtown if you're willing to venture out of your area. i would highly recommend checking out the village and soho areas.
