Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area is about 20 miles north west of Las Vegas and makes a beautiful day trip.

Valley of Fire State Park in about 75 miles from Las Vegas and will also make a beautiful day trip.

A 370 mile round trip from Las Vegas would be to take Hwy 93 down to Kingman to explore Historic Route 66. Take route 66 to Oatman, AZ a cute old living ghost town, then take Hwy 95 down to Lake Havasu to see the London Bridge and come back to Vegas via Laughlin, NV.

Zion National Park can be done as a day trip at 360 miles round trip, but I would suggest doing this as a road trip and include Bryce National Park and a drive on scenic Hwy 12 to Boulder, Utah and back. I would recommend spending the night in Springdale, Utah just outside of Zion. If you have time make a side trip to Glen Canyon Recreational Area near Page, AZ. This is beautiful Lake Powell and has the most beautiful BLUE water.

http://www.so-utah.com/zion/homepage.html

Utahtea
