I don't know about good and clean, but there are several places along South St that always seem to have customers.

Thank you for responding...I'll take a drive down there next week and check it out...Thanks!

Most shops I have been in all "look" the same, you can't judge it that way...You want to make sure they use an auto clave and all needles being used on you should be opened from packages just for you...be vocal and ask when you go in, if you don't feel comfortable in one place, just go to another, I'm sure there are many...look at the artwork, you want a place that produces good work and that you will be comfortable in...most have websites and galleries...

Isn't there some place on the internet where you could ask this question to a more tattoo-oriented crowd than the good folks here on Fodors?
I'd also ask people in Philidelphia who have excellent tattoos what shop and more importantly what artist did them. |
Isn't the whole question one big oxymoron ?

Well Suze are you implying that people with tattoos are not good folks and that no one in these forums have tattoos? Seeing as I live no where near Philly I thought this would be a good place to get some answers about anything related to the city of Philadelphia. I am trying to PLAN a trip here not do things spur of the moment and ask someone on the street. That is the point of these forums right?? To better plan for a vacation. Your comments really gave me a whole new outlook of SOME of the people that are on these boards.

My brother lives in Philly and has a small tattoo on his ankle. I'll ask him where he had it done and pass it along. I know he's happy with it, never had any infection or other problems.
