Good central location of Acacia Nat'l Park in Maine ?
We will certainly spend a lot of time in the park & are looking for a smallish 2 or 3 bdrm. cottage & generally a good place to start looking location-wise. Waterfront would be nice, as would a small village locale. Any suggestions, or better yet experiences ?

Sounds like Southwest Harbor, on the quieter, western lobe of Mount Desert Island would suit you. Nice teeny village, plus close to everything Acadia offers. Some of our favorite trails are near there. I don't have any lodging suggestions, though.

I agree that SW Harbor would be nice. You could also look into Somesville which is a little village nearby. There are a lot of lodging options and depending on your budget and the time of year you're planning on visiting, you may be able to find something right in Bar Harbor. Here is a link that may help.
