Good breakfast on or near Magazine Street in NO?
We will be in wonderful NO Wed. through Fri. and plan to spend one morning shopping on Magazine St. We love a good southern style breakfast and will have a car. Any favorites from you locals or frequent New Orleans travelers? Two we've enjoyed in past years have been Camelia Grill and Mother's. Thank you!

I don't know, but be sure to stop by Sucre
http://www.shopsucre.com/ Just got back and their macaroons are to die for. I felt like I was back in Paris and had just stumbled on Laduree. |
Surrey's is outstanding. Camellia Grill has a new location in the FQ on Chartres. Mother's is considered a tourist destination by locals. Go to Elizabeth's in the By Water E of the FQ for much better food and service. Don't miss it.

And by this tourist! We thought Mother's was pretty awful (Camellia Grill and Johnny's Po Boy both beat it by a mile). |
Slim Goodie's often has a line and has the traditional breakfast you may be looking for. We love to go to La Boulangerie, the "blue and gold" French patisserie (cash only) on Magazine near Napoleon Ave. It has traditional French pastries and some savory breakfast kinds in the morning. You won't have a shortage of incredible places to eat!!! Enjoy your trip! Karen

I appreciate the suggestions and can't wait to try them. Nothing better than a good New Orleans down home breakfast. The biggest problem is fitting in breakfast, lunch and dinner. Whew.
