Good beer in chicago

Hi we are landing in Chicago for 4 days from tomorrow and just hoping for some pointers for places with good beer and atmosphere. I've been to Chicago a few times before but never really went out in the evening. This time we are hoping to visit some good pubs that do good Draught ales and some that do good pub food too.

We are staying at the hard rock cafe next to millennium park but happy to travel to other areas (safe areas on the El). We'd also like to catch a baseball game so may game night suggestions to would be great.

Thanks
Kristie UK

You would enjoy Hopleaf, 5148 N. Clark St. Chicago, IL 60640 Phone: (773) 334-9851. It's an easy ride on the El (red line to Argyle Street) or bus (22 from Dearborn Street) up to Andersonville neighborhood which is fun, quirky shops, cafes, etc.

Goose Island brewpub would be a good bet for you at North and Sheffield (a few blocks west of North/Clyborn red line stop) or on Clark right by Wrigley Field (red line to Addison). If you're willing to go a little farther from downtown, the Bad Apple near Lincoln Square has a huge beer list and some of the best burgers in the city (brown line to Western).

Public House has great beer on tap, good food, and a lot of TVs.
The Gage has good beer but is a bit expensive. O'toole's has a large beer list and about 50 TVs. Hofbraugh House near Wrigley will work if you like German beer.

I agree with andrews98982 about going with the Goose Island...its a local beer and I think has the atmosphere you are looking for.

The OP was already in Chicago when the last of responses were made above.

Goose Island is now owned by Anheuser-Busch. Not a recent development - for almost 6 months.
