Good Beaches Near Rockland, ME

Hello - We're renting a house in Rockland, Maine and would like some suggestions for beaches to visit in the surrounding towns. Thanks very much.

If you have small children, Lake St. George ttate Park is very nice, maybe 30 mins from Rockland.
Rockland is more in the rocky coastline area of Maine, not "sandy beach". You could take day trips to Pemaquid, Reid State Park, Popham Beach.....

Be aware that the water, other than Popham, is likely not to be considered swimmable by people from other parts of the country. It could well be down in the sixties.

We've been to the more southerly areas of Maine and are familiar with the water temps. Just looking for some nice beaches in the area around Rockland. Thanks.
