Good Amish food for lunch
 

Trying to find a good place for lunch in Lancaster. Heard of Good & Plenty, Miller's & Plain & Fancy - mixed reviews - including overpriced and overrated. Also heard of a small place called Dienner's Country Restaurant. Sounds interesting, but limited info available on that. Would like to stay away from overcrowded "touristy" eateries if possible. Any suggestions would be great!

There are all pretty much the same. Everything is touristy in Lancaster, so you are going to have trouble finding anything else.

If it is still there, try the Brownstown Restaurant in Brownstown, PA. Also Willow Valley restaurant in Willow Valley,PA (I think the name of the town is the same.....search online). You need to poke around in the small towns.

I live in Lancaster and I don't know of a single "Amish food" restaurant. The locals all prefer to eat at family restaurants (Oregon Dairy, Kreiders) or the chains (Olive Garden, Chili's, etc.). Everything billing itself as Amish food is a tourist trap. If you don't want touristy, don't see anything Amish. It's as simple as that. Also, the most concentrated tourist spots are all east of Lancaster surrounding Route 30, so choose other routes to see the "locals".

We've eaten at Good & Plenty. It was just a big buffet, nothing too exciting. We stopped because we were hungy and it was there. I don't know how authentic it was, but we were a little dissapointed.
