Golf suggestions? Hilton Head
 

Can anyone suggest a good/pretty golf course in Hilton Head? <BR><BR>My husband will be playing by himself and I will just ride alone. I wanted to go to a golf course that you could see the beach on the course. <BR><BR>I called around and the prices are about 100-110 dollars! <BR><BR>Thanks

Patty,<BR><BR>Old South golf course, just off the bridge to the mainland has 4 or 5 marsh-side holes, including a couple that require you to hit over the marsh to the holes. Think the rate is in the $50 range. Anything on the island that fronts the beach will cost a lot.

It is peak golf season in Hilton Head right now and you will not find anything in the $50 range. $100-110 sounds about right. Also, they will pair your husband up with someone.

<BR>Patty,<BR><BR>Crescent Pointe, an Arnold Palmer designed course on the mainland, is $99 till 11 AM, $69 from 11 to 2, and $49 after 2 (sunset is 7:30 PM)<BR>Eagle's Pointe a Davis Love III designed course (also on the mainland) is $79 til 11 AM, $59 from 11 to 3, and $45 after 3.<BR>Old South is $89 in the morning, and $68 after noon.

Crescent Pointe & Eagle's Pointe<BR><BR>Are these nice golf courses? Do they have any water views? That price sounds a little better. I did call the Oyster Reef and they said it would be 69 after noon. <BR>Now my question is can you wait to play golf until after noon during the middle of October? Will you get all the play in?

Patty,<BR><BR>Figure 3.5 to 4.5 hours for the round, and if you start at 1 PM, you'll still be done in plenty of light.<BR>Rates may actually be better in mid-October. Temps should be high 70s, low 80s at that time.<BR>Plus, at that time, it may very well be possible for you and hubby to go by yourselves, meaning the round might even be shorter.<BR>Eagle's Pointe doesn't have water views, but the Crescent does.<BR>I play after work and can get 9 holes in between 5:40 and 7:10. I play right up until the time changes at the end of October.

So if you had your choice between Crescent and Oyster Reef or the expensive Sea Pines Resort Ocean course which one would you do??<BR>I'm not playing. I'm just along for the ride so I was looking for a nice view. <BR><BR>Thank you for all your help!

Patty,<BR><BR>Sorry, don't think I can help you here. I've only played Crescent Pointe. Dont'y know the other two (from a playing standpoint). Doubt you can go wrong whichever one you and he choose.

It should suit your oceanview needs. <BR><BR>It for the Robert Trent Jones course at Palmetto Dunes. <BR><BR>Robert Trent Jones at Palmetto Dunes Golf Course<BR><BR>7 Trent Jones Ln<BR>Hilton Head Island, South Carolina 29928<BR>Beaufort County<BR>(843) 785-1138 <BR><BR>Course Description:<BR>The oldest course at Palmetto Dunes and is a long-time favorite on the island. This facility features an extensive lagoon system which winds through the course impacting play on eleven holes. Add some of Jones' seemingly patented bunkers and large, well-bunkered greens and you've got plenty of good golf ahead of you here. <BR><BR>This Palmetto Dunes Resort course is well-known for its many views of the ocean. The finest is found at the 10th hole, a par-5 on the card of 540 yards. Its green is set out by the ocean, and it takes three good shots to reach it when the wind is blowing in your face.<BR><BR> <BR><BR>

This course was just completly redone and word around the island says it is beautiful and in great playing shape, any oceanfront IS going to be expensive, if you want great views play the afternoons, it stays light out till at least 7.<BR>

A stay at Harbourside III in Shelter Cove will allow you to play at the Robert Trent Jones course (newly redesigned) and the Fazio course for only a cart fee. Both of these courses are very well kept and are among the best on the island. The condo's are conveniently located to restaurants Kingfisher, Little Venice, Scotts Fish Market, Harbourmaster and San Miguels are all within walking distance from your condo.
