GOLF on cape cod ?

i am surprising my 14 year old son with a round of golf for his birthday in late june. we are visiting there for two weeks staying in brewster, and not members anywhere. i have narrowed it down to oceanedge or captain's...any recommendations? he is a decent golfer as is my husband. also need rental clubs and see both these do have rentals, or course, i would reserve pronto!!

just seeing if there is another location, or a preference...this will be on a tuesday, so maybe less crowded?

thanks

I think he would thoroughly enjoy the Captains course. There are two to chose from, both, several years ago written up in the Golf magazine as one of the best new public courses in New England. I know they will enjoy it.
If you have the opportunity, the Links course, Highland Golf course, a 9 hole course in Truro would be much fun for them also, since it is quite different, and its proximity to the Lighthouse and the Atlantic is something to behold!

Agreed, Captains is a nicer track than Ocean Edge, but OE isn't too bad either.

i dunno! i just checked out this course at truro, and it looks really neat! may be more fun, just for the uniqueness of it all. and they do have rental clubs...

would have never come up with this one, so thanks capecodshanty! great aerial shots on their website.

Hope you enjoy it-it is a lot of fun, teeing off, having the ocean right below you! Even more disconcerting, if the Highland Light foghorn is blasting!

I second playing Highland Links - I felt like I was playing in the UK. It does get foggy though, but don't let that stop you.

There's also a hole with a lighthouse if I recall correctly. No, you do not have to hit through the lighthouse, ha ha.

We played Highland Links last fall. It's a neat course and the holes along the ocean are unique. It's also one of the oldest public courses in the US. Go up in the light house, too, if you have the time.

when we stayed at Ocean Edge resort a couple years back..
we played the 18 hole golf course..it was nice.
