Golden Gate Bridge Walk and Photos
Hello:
We will be visiting San Francisco in October and are planning to walk across the Golden Gate Bridge. Does anyone have any favorite spots for photographing the bridge and surroundings? We only have a simple point and click camera with a 50 mm zoom. Also, when is the best time of day for walking across the bridge and taking pictures? Also how do you get there using public transportation from Union Square-it looks like the 28 or 29 bus on the map? Thanks, Katie |
Katie, My two favorite photo spots can be seen on the following links:
http://p.vtourist.com/848912.jpg http://p.vtourist.com/865785.jpg The first is from the Marin Headlands, across the bridge and to the left and up. The second is from Lincoln Park. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to get there on a bus. Maybe someone here will. For other great photos of the city, get out on the bay. Just take a ferry to Sausalito. If the weather is good you'll be set for fabulous photo ops. |
I like the way the bridge looks from Fort Point. You are right underneath the bridge so you get a different angle then what is usually seen. I also gotta agree with Grasshopper--Marin Headlands have a GREAT view of the bridge.
Both the 28 & 29 go to the bridge. I can't think which bus will get you to the 28 or 29 the quickest. Maybe take the 31 to the Marina and transfer? You can also take Golden Gate transit from 2nd & Mission and get to the bridge but these buses are not covered in the Muni pass and cost a little more then the regular muni. The 76 bus goes to the Marin Headlands on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. |
Hello:
Thanks for the info. Marin Headlands look really nice and we'll have a rental car for part of our trip, so we can drive there. We wanted to visit the Point Bonita Lighthouse. I sounds like we would want to take the bus to the Golden Gate Bridge-looks like there is only a few metered parking spaces. I would rather take my time than worry about feeding the meter. Katie |
It will take 2 buses from Union Square - bus 38 along Geary (or line 2 if you're closer to Sutter), then 28 or 29. I think bus 76 doesn't run on Saturdays, have they changed it, Kikahead?
