Going to Vermont next Friday. Any last minute advice?

Me and my husband are going to Vermont next Friday to see the fall foliage. We'll be based in Burlington. Any last minute advice of not to miss, what to shop, where to eat, etc., etc.?
Thank you in advance!

Do you mean you're coming this Friday or a week from Friday? If you're coming a week from Friday, you'll be a little too late for color (I lived in Northern VT for 20 yrs and trees were bare by Halloween). This Friday, there should still be a little color left in the Burlington area. A quick check of www.1-800-vermont.com is saying that there is still pretty good color on the Champlain Islands and in the Middlebury area. I would check that website for foliage updates.
In Burlington, you'll like Church Street Marketplace-lots of shops and restaurants. Try NECI COmmons (run by the New England Culinary Institute) or 5 Spice Cafe. The Vermont Pub & Brewery is a good place to kick back and have a beer and a burger. If the Spirit of Ethan Allen is still running on Lake Champlain, it's a nice tour. There is also a train ride called the Champlain Flyer that has gotten good reviews. If you like walking/in-line skating/biking, Burlington has a great recreation path that runs along the waterfront. I think Ski Rack on Main St will rent you bikes or blades.
Check out www.burlingtonfreepress.com also for listings of activites.
HAVE FUN!

Thanks bm! Great tips. We are going this Friday, 10/19. I want to take pictures of the fall foliage, so will check at the website right now.
Once again, thank you!

Debra just don't be dissapointed when you come here on Friday. By the time when you get here all leaves will be probably gone. We are having right now very strong winds and leaves are falling and falling and falling. If you are coming mostly for the foliage I suggest stay south of Burlington otherwise it is a great place to visit and BM gave some interesting ideas. Welcome and have a pleasant stay. I would add a ferry across the lake from Charlotte to Essex and then a drive to Lake Placid for lunch. But leaves there will be gone too. I think

Thank you all for the information!
I hope that at least some leaves are in the trees!!!
Anyway, I think that all the area will be very beautiful, even if the foliage will be gone still is a nice place to stay.
Thank you very much for the attention.
