Going to the Sun Road
 

Due to March rain and little snow in the lower elevations, GTTS will open as far as Avalanche Creek as of today, April 6.. VERY early opening! Snow at higher elevations of the road are at normal but warm weather is forecast here so hopefully plows can make headway on the rest of the road and hope for an earlier than normal opening!!!

We're meeting friends and biking GTTS over Mother's Day weekend. I don't bike very often, so I'm kind of hoping the crews don't get too much of the road plowed before that weekend. :)

I'm not sure if this "early opening" is good or bad news.

Why would it be bad news?

CORRECTION: CORRECTION; GTTS road is open to hikers and bikers ONLY to Avalanche Lake. Local paper, Hungry Horse News, reported incorrectly that road was open to vehicles.
