Going to Tampa- need some help
 

First of all , I want to thank all of those people on this board that convinced me to stay away the week of the first hurricane. I wanted to go to a mtg for an investment property but pushed it off due to the weather.
Well now I have rescheduled and will be going to Tampa on Oct 8th. I have narrowed it down to clearwater since the beaches sound beautiful and want to become more familiar with different areas of fla.
I also want to wish you all the best down there and hope you can be all be safe.
Ok so i would like any suggestions for good hotels in clearwater. Me and my fiancee are going , and we would like a nice beach to just relax for a few days, a CLEAN hotel, and some options of good places to eat around the hotel. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

ohhh no I just read some amzing stuff on sanibel island...is it extremely pricey, I guess thats all relative. But what are peoples feedback comparing the 2, thanks again.

Sanibel is very nice. However, it got hit pretty hard from Charley. Maybe some locals can give you more information. In Clearwater, we like to stay at the Sheraton on Sand Key. It is a little quieter than the main strip in Clearwater and the beach is very nice.

Yeah I just looked at a map and think Clearwater is more feasible since I will be in tampa anyway and it is closer. I will research the hotel you mentioned.

The beach south of there is a bit crowded for my taste.

Sandkey is only a short drive south of Clearwater proper. It is more upscale with lots of high rises.

These Gulf beach towns are all very different. What are you looking for? And what is your price range?

There is a wonderful sushi restaurant there. I'll fish the name if you're interested. But the absolute best restaurant around there is the Island Way Grill.

Besides that T girl, I guess were looking for something relaxing, and mellow and clean. The hotel you mentioned is ceratinly one im am going to look more into. Our price range would be about 95-150 a night. Also, a crowded beach is not my idea of relaxing something on the beach, preferabbly a private one at that.

Living here I haven't stayed in any of the hotels you mentioned, but Sheraton Sand Key gets plenty of positive reviews and it's not in as congested an area as some parts of CWB. That also means you'll have to drive to activities other than beach activities, but they are all a short hop away.

The only hotel I'd definitely cross off your list is Holiday Inn Sunspree which has a terrible location, IMHO, on an inlet near the bridge to Sand Key.

I'm so glad you rescheduled your trip too! Hurricane Charley might not have left you with the impression we'd like and Frances was even more of a bummer. It's great that after all this, you aren't deterred, and still interested in investment property! Gutsy. :)

OO is right. Sand Key is definitely preferable to the congested part of Clearwater Beach. The Clearwater Beach Hotel is on a less congested part of the Clearwater Beach. I like it because you can walk to lots of restaurants and to the pier. Not the case at Sand Key, but you'll have a car. Those Sunspree's get a bad rap all over, so I'd cross that one off your list.

I was at Sand Key this weekend at a condo for a party. The beach was nice but it was night. I'm sure, though, like all the Gulf beaches, it will be wonderful.

Be sure to check on how your property weathered our storms. That was a good test.

Thanks all for your help. I will let you know what we decide...Also, I am looking very forward to seeing how my property or the surroundig ones stood up to all these storms. I still love Fla. and will still be investing down there in the future.
