Going to Sonoma this weekend and plan on drinking some wine.

What is the best way to get to the wineries? we will be drinking and do not want to drive.

you could try the wine train

The wine train is in napa- it's not a visitingthing, but they have many tasting options, dinner- entertainment and if you want to drink a lot and not drive, you might be happy here. Unless you get motion sickness. wwwwinetrain.com

When we were visiting, we saw a lot of people traveling by limousine. Cheesy white ones, so I assume they were rentals.

We were going to use this limo service which I found had the best rates http://www.napalimo.com/. Visit the site to see what you think. We didn't use them after all because we approached our wine tasting differently so as not to get that headache from drinking all day. What we did, and the wineries were happy to accomodate us, is we had them pour their wines in groups, like all their Zins or all their Chardonneys or all their Merlots, you get it, and then we took a samll taste of each of them. There were 4 of us. This way we didn't have 4 or 5 glasses of Zins we only tasted from 4 or 5 glasses. At the end of the day we felt great and got to taste and hear the attributes of some mighty fine wines!<BR><BR>Have fun!

Would biking be a good alternative?

Suzie Mar 26th, 2002 09:47 AM

The wineries are not close together like they are in Napa so I've always wondered how people would ride from winery to winery but maybe others would know. I'd sure like to hear about a bike route for Sonoma that included nice wineries!

AD,<BR>Being an avid Napa/Sonoma Valleys bike rider, please remember you are still under the laws of the Calif Veh Code and can get popped for DUI on a bike.<BR><BR>We were down in Napa Valley/Yountville in Nov and took "Taxi CABernet" to and from Yountville/St Helena and back for around $30. I think they may give "tour" rates as do most limos/taxi services in the Valleys.<BR>Kal

Have a few merlots for me; I'll be in New England shoveling snow and ice.
