Going to Orlando in November

Taking the family (3 kids 6-12) to Orlando in early November. Any ideas on where to stay would be appreciated. We will probably do more Universal than Disney stuff. My oldest daughter and son would like to go horseback riding; does anybody know of a place in that area that is nice?

Check prices for the theme hotels first. They are dropping down rapidly. The attractions are empty now. In the paper today they had a full spread and said they're hoping for 20% occupancy in the hotels right now. My husband and son are up there for something else but said it's very quiet everywhere. Don't know about horseback riding, sorry.

Orlando is so incredibly overdeveloped now that you have few choices for GOOD horseback riding within an hour of the Disney/Universal area. However, there are riding facilities at Grand Cypress Hotel in Lake Buena Vista (very expensive and not much of a ride), Horse World in Poinciana (about 45 minutes south), and a place in Lake County (an hour plus) called Martin Ranch, which truly rides in the country.

There are also a few places east of Orlando but few trail rides that don't entail crossing several streets.

Hi Rich:

I haven't been to Orlando area in ages but get brochures. My suggestion would be to also go to an orange grove, I think its call U-Pick Em. November is when oranges become in season. Check out Wet n' Wild on International Drive too. The weather in Florida is beautiful - November has the least amount of rainfall w/highs from 80 to 85.

I dropped by Downtown Disney last night (believing all the "empty" hype)and was amazed to find it absolutely jammed! Disney is laying off people left and right claiming they're "empty," but that's certainly not what I saw!

Do you really want to go to Florida? Did you hear about new cases of antrax?
