Hey there fodorites! Going to Vegas again! Looking for a couple of things (even thought I've been before)....

1) A deal on a room. Thinking about the Flamingo, want to be on the strip. Where truly is the best deal? I've been a few times before but have always been there for a work meeting...

2) Best place to watch the superbowl and place some bets during the game.

You can bet at any hotel for the Superbowl, the lines are all usually the same, they may vary a half point here or there. As far as watching the game, the big properties will have the screens on in the sports book, but seating will be hard to get. Sometimes they have banquet rooms with big screens on with the game, but when they do this they usually charge to get in. Superbowl weekend can be very busy in Vegas, so if you find a good deal, I would book now.

Deals for SuperBowl weekend are few and far between. Try the Stardust, they have some older discounted rooms, and the sportsbook is good. Across the street from the new WYNN resort.

Are you looking for truly the best deal, or the cheapest room on the strip?

For cheap, check Stardust, Tropicana, Boardwalk, and the older, more northern hotels. Super 8 is a 5-10 minute walk from the strip and may also work for you.

For deals, check Flamingo, Sahara (not great location, but on the monorail).

You might want to check prices on a few hotels and post back here with any you're thinking of to see if others who have stayed there think hotel X is worth some number of dollars more than hotel Y, once you know what prices are available.

If you go early enough to a sports book you should be able to get a seat. We enjoyed Bellagio's sports book last year for watching a college basketball game.

i was curious what they were charging for superbowl - the flamingo is $190 fri, $210 sat and $130 for sun
the super 8 on koval (5 minute walk to the strip) is a total of $262 for three nights. that's not bad considering the weekend.
i'd book asap as prices will likely go up.

Methinks the best place to watch the Superbowl is in Detroit next year. MGM's sportsbook is nice, as is Caesar's. Depends on what yer lookin' for. As you know, the line moves as kickoff time approaches. Best bet is to have a friend at another sportsbook and you two stay in contact with cell phones --- outside of the sportsbook are. NO cell phones allowed inside. Maybe you get lucky and find 1/2 a point difference someplace.

In looking for a friend last week, I came across some very good combo deals with SW Airlines and the Alladin- which is converting into a Planet Hollywood.

This is extremely close to Flamingo section- across from Paris and also newer, much newer. I heard the convert is going nicely and there isn't a lot of mess. Check it out if SW is one of your airport's choices.

For Superbowl weekend, you should book now or asap.

I don't mean to sound too negative but I really doubt your chances to score a seat in the sports book during the Super Bowl. Most (if not all) the seats will be reserved for VIPs and other big gamblers.

When I was there a few years ago we were advised by a local as to which sports books are totally set aside for biggies. We happened to grab a seat at Treasure Island by getting there at 11am for an aproximately 5:30 kickoff.

I'm sorry I really can't help with your question - I can add this though: We happened to be in Vegas on Super Bowl weekend for business a couple of years back. It was so much fun - highly recommend going then & hope you're able to work out the details.

Appreciate all the feedback. We can watch the game any where I guess, good point about the big wig gamblers and VIP reservations.

I just want a chance to place some bets. I heard you can bet on the coin toss, who scores first, etc.. Anyone have any experience with that?

You can place your bets and watch the game right at the Flamingo, or walk down to Ballys....those "easy" bets like coin-toss are a thing of the past. It is much harder to win these days. I say "EasY" because that would be a 50/50 chance. They now usually only take bets on things like "Field goals scored, over three or under three" because that one is not a 50/50 chance - it could end up just plain three and everyone loses.

These were the kind of bets you could place:
which team would score first
how many first downs in the first half
score in the last 2 minutes

you get the picture - there was a page of possible betting options which provided much fun during the game. Hope this helps...
