Going to Kauai in 10 days!
Our last trip to Kauai was during the month of January or February and it rained every day (we were in Princeville). Hopefully it will be less wet this time. Any suggestions for casual dining and cheap eats for 3 adults & 3 teenagers?

We were in Kauai in August, and it only rained once and that was during the night. Hopefully you will have the same great weather!
For casual dining, I highly recommend Kauai Pasta in Kapaa. We ate there two nights in a row b/c it was so good. Also in Kapaa, Scotty's BBQ was a great lunch place. Hanalei Gourmet (or is it Cafe?) and Kilauea Bakery on the North Shore are also good lunch spots. We had dinners at Sushi Blues and the Princeville Hotel which were pricier but very good. Have you done a search on here? There are several threads with lots of recommendations. Have a great trip! |
Thanks! Yes, I did a search but most of the restaurants mentioned are pricier or geared for tourists. I am looking for the local hangouts. We already have Hamura's and Ono Burgers on our to-do list.

Brick oven pizza in Kaleheo or Hanapepe is good food and reasonable. It was a local fave when I lived there.

Village Snack Shop in Ching Young Village in Hanalei.
Lihue BBQ Inn Polynesia Cafe in Kapa'a or Hanalei Kalapaki Beach Hut in Lihue |
