Going to Colonial Williamsburg
 

Going to Williamsburg Aug. 30th for 5 nights, what should we do and see around Williamsburg, places to go and see ouside of town. And any neat places to eat, thanks for your help.

There is definitely a lot to see and do in that area. If you like amusement parks, go to Busch Gardens. It has a European theme and has some of the best roller coasters anywhere. There are also Yorktown (where the British surrendered) and Jamestown (the first permanent English settlement in North America); these are both pretty close to Williamsburg. You may also want to go to Virgina Beach if you have time. There are also lots of Civil War battlefields all over Virginia if you are into that sort of thing. Just ask when you get there which ones are nearby. Even the ones around Richmond aren't all that far away. <BR>

<BR>Busch Gardens is an awesome amusement park! Don't miss it. <BR>There's also a water park too....

We just returned from CW and had a wonderful time! There is plenty to do in the area. I know Busch Gardens has been reccommeded. Take warning: It is EXTREEMELY humid! It was 95 degrees with 100% humidity while we visited. We thought we would not survive - and we live in California! Takinga mister would be a wonderful idea. <BR> We loved Colonial Williamsburg itself. We took an evening lathorn tour, and had a fabulous time (twice) at Josiah Chowning's Tavern after 10:00 when reservations are no longer needed and the entertainmentbegins. There are <BR>strolling musicians, magicians, table games, and communal seating so you get to know other people as well. Don't miss it, it was such fun! We ate baskets of peanuts in the shells and had ginger ales in colonial mugs. <BR> Also, remember that you are in the "Historical Triangle" and the other historical areas are well worth seeing. Jamestown is great. So are the plantations. There are so many places to eat - lots o chains (Outback, Cracker Barrell, Golden Corral, etc..) For a real treat, mak reservatios at one of the historical "taverns" inside of Colonial Wiliamsburg. Christina Campbell's is quite popular. Have a wonderul time!
