Going to Atlanta from Miami by car

Hello friends
My wife and I are planning a trip to Atlanta by car. It's 600 miles and I was thinking of going directly without stops if possible.
We don't have much time and there we plan to make a general visit through the hop-on hop-off city tours system. (I don't plan to drive because they tell me that traffic is chaotic)
We would like the hotel to be in an area of shops and restaurants so we can walk around, which we really like.
Any suggestions? Thank you very much already.
I am 80 years old and my wife is 73 but we are in good health and with youthful spirits.

When driving at the speed limit it's about a 9.5 hour drive time from Miami to Atlanta, not including any time spent stoping for rest, gas or meals so it is possible to make the trip in one day of driving but I wouldn't do it "without stopping". Realisticlly, you should plan on making a couple of brief stops along the way to avoid fatigue. Your actual overall time on the road will be closer to 12 or 13 hours. I'm the same age as you and my spouse is 79 and we have done road trips of between 600 and 850 miles in one day. We usually stop every 3 or 4 hours for anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes just to take a break (gas, restroom break, lunch, walk the dog, etc.) and we share some of the driving.

Sorry, not all that familiar with downtown Atlanta so I can't make any recommendations that will meet your requirements on where to stay.

Have a safe trip.

Good morning,

I would suggest staying in the Midtown area. You would be close to Piedmont Park and the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. Ponce City Market and the East Beltline would be close too. There are nice walking areas, shops and restaurants around.
I don’t have any experience with the hop on hop off bus tours, but a quick google search came up with lots of options.

Enjoy your trip.

I agree Midtown is a good base for you. Not downtown, not Buckhead. Midtown.

I third midtown. We’ve stayed at the Four Seasons there and the Loews. I found the Loews to be in a better location. Rumi’s nearby is fantastic.
