Go Travel, May I have your opinion, please?

Friends (around forty of us) will be celebrating our sixtieth birthdays together in 2006. We are interested in meeting in Charleston, SC or New Orleans. Could you suggest a good mid-range hotel which would be suitable for us in each city?
Thanks so much.

No hotel recommendations but please dont try to do either of these cities in the summer. Even winter would be better than summer if fall and spring dates are not available.

Thanks, Polly.

What month will you travel?

cmcfong, I would recommend posting again with the purpose of your trip in the title, (<b>Where to stay in Charleston or NO?</b> GoTravel might not see this and there are a few people one the boards who travel to these cities who can help you.

Thanks for the suggestion, Scarlett. I actually did post that message and it got no response so I decided to try again with her since she has previously posted a lot about both towns. I will ttt my other message and see if I get some answers. (PS, I hope Pup is prepared for your big spring trip and not being able to go...even though he is a FRENCH poodle!)
Susan, we are open to any month in order to get the best rates. Personally I love early spring in both cities and fall in Charleston.

Sorry cmc, I never saw this post until today.

In Charleston I recommend the Doubletree, which is very very nice. The Mills House is also a great middle of the road hotel but I like the location of the Doubletree better.

I can't help you with NO because I'm not familiar enough with the city.

One of my favorites is the Alexa Hotel in NO. It is the sister hotel of the Astor Crowne Plaza. 1/2 block off of Canal on Royal. Prices completely depend on time, but I've seen it between $100-$200.

In New Orleans, we really like the Dauphine Orleans. Great location 1 block off Bourbon Street in the French Quarter, nice rooms, reasonable prices. www.dauphineorleans.com
