Don't know where you are coming from but I can only say this. GO - Hawaii is paradise on earth! They having given you the best advice on a destination. Now you need to research the islands a little more and come back with more questions. Each island has something a little different to offer.
Congratulations!

Search for posts here by volcanogirl -- she and her husband went to Hawaii for their honeymoon and loved it.

You haven't got much time to plan.

Do you have a budget? Where are you flying from? How much time do you have?

Marginal Sep 5th, 2008 09:35 AM

I suggest you start looking at the cost of flights from your departure point. www.kayak.com

Some airport codes to use:

HNL = Honolulu
OGG = Kahului, Maui
KOA = Kona, Hawaii
LIH = Lihue, Kauai

Rather than attempt to act as your unpaid travel agent, why don't you get on of the many guidbooks on Hawaii. Fodors, ironically, makes one. You need to get some specifics down, most importantly budget, before trying to arrange something like this as close to the wedding.

October is one of the months with the least number of tourists.

The number of tourists for the year has been down.

So you should have no problem making plans to go to any of the islands.

Lots of info including sites with free brochures for all islands:

October is off season for Hawaii and should not be too crowded.

From here in Seattle going to Oahu/Honolulu I found very good airfare ($400) and hotel rates (under $100).

Which island are you interested in?

And where are you coming from?

aprillovestravel- I would be very careful about making honeymoon plans in a $100 a night hotel.

It's your honeymoon, find something even a little bit special. You have the rest of your lives to stay in budget accomodations.

Hi, April - we did Hawaii for our honeymoon, and it was wonderful. We've gone to Maui, Hawaii, and Kauai. How much time will you have? We spent our entire honeymoon on Maui, and then did a separate trip combining the BI and Kauai - loved it all. It's pretty much paradise on earth. Do you know which island/islands you're interested in?

Took a trip to Hawaii a few years back: Honolulu, Big Island and Maui. GO! IT IS BEAUTIFUL!

I would suggest doing little surprises for your significant other!

On each island I planned 3 surprises:

1. Found a romantic spot to present a ring (but you will already have one! think of a gift that will be special) I picked Koko Crater

2. Had wine, cheese and chocolate covered strawberries in room waiting when we checked in.

3. Private Cabana couples massage on the beach (arranged through the spa at resort)

4. Had arranged lei service for when we arrived at airport!

I would heartily suggest Maui. If you don't want to stay in a big hotel on the beach, I think this place looks, well, heavenly...

Marginal - you have found my favorite place on the planet! Perfect for a honeymoon. Might want to stay a few nights at Hotel Hana Maui too. Great spa there, and very romantic (although remote).

I didn't recommend they stay in a $100/night hotel for their honeymoon, I was only using that an example that October is off-season with low rates available, not a crowded or particularly busy time.

Hi!

Just returned last week from a romantic vacation in Kauai. It is so beautiful! I would highly recommend Kauai's North Shore, especially around Hanalei or Kilauea. I would rent a car and get a small vacation house/cottage for most privacy and romantic time. If you would like to stay closer to town, try the Grand Hyatt on Poipu Point. The Princeville Resort is also a large, five-star resort on the North Shore, just outside Hanalei, if you'd prefer.

Best Regards,
Julia

The Princeville Resort is closed for construction, and won't open until next year, as a much more expensive St. Regis.

Just got back from Kauai for our 16th wedding anniversary.

We spent our honeymoon on Oahu and if it wasn't for Hurricane Iniki, it would have been fabulous.

Hawaii is a beautiful place.

I'd suggest getting Hawaii for Dummies and read about the islands to see which one or two fits your likes.

Happy planning and congratulations!

The romantic place? Absolutely.

We got married and honeymooned in Hawaii. I cannot say enough about the place. No beach vendors, either!

I would recommend Kaua'i. I
guarantee you will fall in love with it. It is so beautiful. Many movies have been produced there, because of the hills and dramatic coastlines.

Hawaii isn't cheap, but it's so worth it. You've gotten some good responses here. Can't wait for our trip to Maui in February.

Have fun. Aloha!

I was married in Kauai...gorgeous!
It is a very quiet island and you won't want to leave;)
If you are going in October you can probably get some good last minute rates on condos. It is very slow right now and prices have gone down accordingly. It would be good to check sites like Craigslist and VRBO.
Happy Travels!
