Yikes! Hurricane Gil is scaring me! Anyone who lives in Kauai have any comforting words? Did Flossie ruin the weather there earlier this week? If Gil weakens, am I still facing rain every day? Help!

I don't know if that link will work but it shows the latest 5-day projection for Gil. It's nowhere near land during those 5 days and weakens to a tropical storm this weekend.

I'll be on Oahu in a couple of weeks. Hoping this isn't going to be a blockbuster hurricane season for Hawaii!!! Yikes!

Thanks WhereAreWe. Fingers crossed. Forecast shows 40% chance of showers every day. Does it typically rain all day every day on occasion? Or is the 40% just showers part of the day?

I was on the BIg Island when Flossie was predicted to arrive. We were told it was the first tropical storm to take dead aim since Iniki.
The day prior to the storm was gorgeous. We drove to Hilo and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. Flossie lost strength but the day the storm hit the Big Island was cloudy and rainy.
Next day- stunning again.

I've never seen a forecast for Kauai that didn't show daily showers; it's the tropics. You'll typically have intermittent clouds and sunshine throughout the day. Even on days with perfect blue skies you'll have the occasional shower and wonder where it's coming from.
