Global Entry- How long was the interview?

I've applied for Global Entry with the Federal Government and now have an interview set up for early April (geez-90 days to get an interview!).

I'd like to tell my boss how long I think I'll be gone for that interview.

Anyone done this? How long was the interview? How long afterward did you get your permanent card/ID? (I'm traveling out of the country 4/11).

thanks!

10-15 min max. The issue is getting a appointment in timely manner. I applied in August got November date, they went on close down rescheduled to last Monday. I was in and out in just over 10min.
I did learn that they do have Sunday appointments that you can sometimes snag at last minute as things come up and people cancel Sundays a lot,I had to use SFO and the place was packed.

Yeah, it took longer for me to get to LAX than it did for the "interview" -- the finger printing took more time than the interview!

For some reason, I thought it lasted only a year, but was surprised and happy to learn it lasts 5 years, plenty of time to be used for my Greek trip!

[here in ABQ, you can get next day appointments!]

Like 10 minutes. Easy!

Our interview in Miami was 10 minutes tops, but the wait.....that's another story - we were there a long time! They account walk ins as well so that pushed back the entire schedule.
It took some time to get the card - but the put the information on your passport swipe immediately.. You only need the card as a back up.

My husband and I just did a joint interview rather than one at a time, as was originally scheduled. It took 10 minutes maybe. Very quick.

Hey Hey! I had my interview today and you all were right.. that was the least painful five minutes I've ever spent with a government agency!!! :)

Although the agent was very professional, he did crack a smile after this exchange:

"Have you ever been arrested for, or convicted of, a crime against the federal government?"

<i>"No, but it's on my bucket list."</i>

:))

We already used our new global entry to get back into the country yesterday. Slick as can be!! We had our interviews (together) as noted above, just before flying out to Switzerland for about two weeks. Our approval came via email, so we decided to give it a try yesterday at OHare. No problems!!

Awesome, simpson! I'm heading to Italy next week, so my timing was good! The agent said my approval should be through the system in 24-48 hours! :)

Can you get global entry for children traveling with their parents?

nanabee Apr 2nd, 2014 12:33 PM

...under the age of 18?

I would hardly glorify my experience by calling it an interview.
The employee asked to see my proof of residency, GOES letter, and passport.
She took my picture and fingerprinted me.
She asked how long I've lived at my current residence.
She gave me a brochure about the program.
My appointment was at 11:00 and I was on the road heading home at 11:10.
DH's experience was almost exactly the same.

<i>Can you get global entry for children traveling with their parents?</i>

If you mean can children tag along and use the kiosk with parents who have Global Entry, the answer is no.

If you mean can children apply for their own Global Entry, then the answer is yes https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/det...nt-of-children
