Glenelly Inn and Maison Fleurie
 

Looking for personal reviews of either B&B (Glenelly in Sonoma and Maison Fleurie in Napa). Have booked rooms at both for wine co visit this summer and was looking to validate choices. <BR>Thanks!

We stayed at Maison Fleurie last August. It was just OK - not as special as I thought it was going to be from the things I had read. The grounds are quite lovely but our room was small and plain and the employees were not very friendly. The breakfast was just eggs and bacon and toast. Not the usual fancy spread you get at a B&B. We had just come from The Gables in Santa Rosa which was fabulous, and Maison Fleurie was a let down. The location is good, but if I were going back I wouldn't stay there since I know there are other places that are nicer.

My husband and I have also booked a summer trip to the wine country; we looked at Maison Fleurie and other places and have decided to stay at the Gaige House Inn in Glen Ellen (Sonoma) for four nights. It looks great on the website and gets very favorable write-ups in all the books i consulted.

We stayed at the Maison Fleurie during our honeymoon Oct. 1997. We had a totally different experience than Mary Francis. They do have a variety of accommodations. We opted for the Old Bakery building suites ($235+) which were heavenly and with an exquisite appointment to detail. The breakfasts in the common room were much more elaborate than just eggs, bacon, and toast. We loved it here. True, it isn't like most B & B's were the hosts and guests are "in your face". We loved the privacy and discreetness. Our favorite B & B styles are those which offer the comfort, but not the feeling you are in someone's home. We stayed at Camillia Inn in Healdsburg (Sonoma) last Spring. It was a perfect example of what I think a B&B should be -- rooms with antiques, color themes, terry cloth robes, 4-poster beds, and a delightful host and hostess. They provided help before and during the visit, with setting up reservations for dinner and special tours of wineries (e.g. Michel-Schlumberger which was a terrific tour).I think they have a website at www.camilliainn.com (or something quite close to that!)
