Glacier park
We are thinking of going with a baby to Glacier park around September 24 after travlling the Canadian Rockys. Is it a good time to travel the park? How can we transport from Canada to glacier since it is impossible to drive a rental car across the border?

We've rented cars numerous times in the US and driven them across the border. Just talk to the rental car company. We've used Hertz & Avis out of Seattle. Also, checked with our car insurance co. and our car insurance covers us in Canada. Your credit card too probably has some coverage for you (our does...MasterCard). Did you try and not have any luck or just thinking that's the case??

actually i never thought about it, i have started in the us and gone to canada and started in calgary and gone to glacier in the u.s. I don't recall any restrictions at the time of rental, i likely used alamo (but have used others) My visa card covered me in Canada and my own insurance covered me in the u.s. along with the visa card.
as to is it a good time to visit glacier. there could be snow but probably not the road closing kind. There won't be any services open in Glacier and i understand that going to the sun road is under going repair starting sept. 17 so you won't be able to drive straight thru the park. but you will have to drive around on route 2.

Fall is a beautiful time in the Rockies.
Recently did your trip in reverse. Be sure you have permission from the car rental agency that you can take their car into the US and that the car registration is in the car.
If you don't have passports, be sure you have original or nortized copy of everyones (baby included) birth certificates.

Thanks to all who replied.
We wanted to travel one way from Canada to the US, but it's impossible to return a car that was rented in Canada in the US. Therefore, we will skip Glacier Park and travel there at a diefferent time.

My understanding is that the major restriction is that Canadian citizens can't rent a car in US and take it to Canada. I don't think there are any other significant restrictions (at least with the major companies), but check when you reserve.
Hopefully the fires in Montana will be more under control by then; we just came that way a week ago, and the smoke was so thick we didn't stay long.

Going to the Sun Road in the park will be closed at that time to through traffic due to a major rehab of the road which will last 8 to 9 years, closing the road early in the season during that time. Closure date is September 17. At this point, there is construction with waits up to a half hour during the day and up to 4 hours from 11pm till 7am.
US 2 around the south side of the park is open though speed limits are reduced due to heavy smoke from the wildfire.
