Glacier overnight ferries

My husband left Cape Cod by RV June 23rd and just arrived in Alaska a couple of days ago. I plan to fly to Anchorage 7/20. Has anyone taken the glacier overnight ferry. We plan to leave the RV on mainland while sightseeing.

Glacier overnight ferry from/to where?

Connie Jul 10th, 2003 07:14 AM

Are you talking about the marine highway or a glacier sightseeing tour?

CapeCod Jul 12th, 2003 02:51 PM

Sightseeing tour - preferably an overnight stay on the ferry. As far as from/to - no idea but we can get around in our RV or car we are towing.
Any suggestions appreciated!
Thanks

Best glacier sighting seeing area is out of Whittier.

Thanks much - we will check in to Whittier

I have gone with Phillips, an excellent tour. http://www.26glaciers.com/cruise.htm

My husband visited Wonder Lake the past few days while at Denali and did not see one mosquito! I think this is worth reporting since we have been hearing some pretty miserable stories about how bad it can be.

You were lucky with Wonder Lake. Not always so. :)

I am fascinated with your tremendous knowledge of Alaska, Budget Queen. Do you live there or is it that you have been there many times.
Thanks for all the advice to the column.

Budget Queen, I hope you have some suggestions for me re shore excursions & travelling to Denali from Kenai, which I have already posted. I appreciate reading your responses, they are really helpful.

BudgetQueen Jul 22nd, 2003 04:27 AM

I have been to Alaska 15 times, including 9 cruises, I am a frequent visitor, usually 2 trips per year. (next trip early Sept for 2 weeks). Anyway- please look over your shore excursion list and narrow down your interests, there is too much available. :) Consider a flight as that really show the expansiveness of Alaska. Easy travel, Kenai- Denali- only one road. :) Plenty to see along the way- will you have a car???

Please also consider looking at www.cruisecritic.com on the Alaska board. I am a regular poster there and plenty of feed back on tours.
