Why not stay in Whitefish and add an extra 2 hours between Glacier and Yellowstone. And in addition miss out on all of the spectacular sights that are almost totally on the east side of the park.
I'm not on the payroll, nor am I a shareholder of any services in the Glacier Park area. I've been there a few times and have learned to cater to my hobbies that are seeing and photographing spectacular scenery and wildlife. Logan Pass is more or less midway between the east and west entrances but "wildlife central", Iceberg Lake and Grinnell Glacier (which I don't really recommend for other reasons and you don't have time for it anyway) are all on the east side. If you'd like to see my photos of trips to Glacier and other places go to: www.travelwalks.com I agree with stars and others who've commented on your distances to the parks. You've got to get closer to Yellowstone and can do better than Browning. St Mary and Babb are a lot closer though when I went thru Babb I didn't pay attention to what was there other than the general store (Thronson's) for bear spray. On one of my trips to Glacier we put aside a day for the west side. We did a relatively short, "ok" hike (maybe Avalanche Lake) and tried to do better than the obstructed views of that little waterfall (McDonald Falls) |
I'm a little confused about the itinerary. Are you coming from Yellowstone to Glacier and then departing Glacier for Washington?
Or are you coming from the midwest directly to Glacier and then heading south to Yellowstone and then over to Washington? I can see one night in Browning and exploring the Many Glacier area, then you can do the next day partly on the east side and then crossing Going to the Sun to the west side and heading south to Yellowstone or west to Washington. I"m just not sure I'm understanding the order in which you're visiting the parks. |
Midwest to Montana to Washington to Yellowstone then Midwest. We may save Tetons for next time....too much driving.

" We may save Tetons for next time"
That makes no sense. You'll be right next to it. It's almost closer than your "Yellowstone" hotel. |
stars,
You made me laugh. I'm sure GTNP is closer to Yellowstone than their hotel. |
The itinerary is unconventional..
Midwest/Montana/Washington(where in W : Seattle?? ) then Yellowstone... It would have been more convenient to keep Glacier and Yellowstone in the same sequence. What is exactly the itinerary? If when leaving Browning to Washington they drive to West Glacier then GTTS road would be the itinerary and they can keep the whole day in GNP to explore or Two Medecine area or Many Glacier area. If they leave by the north so the "Myer's" idea is good... and while leaving they can make a stop on Many Glacier... We need more precisions. Where are you the night before Browning and the night after Browning ?and so we can discuss the options. Erik |
