Glacier and Grand Tetons: June or July

Somehow I missed the fact that you need to reserve 1 year in advance for national parks (which as a Yosemite fan I am well aware of). These are what a lovely young woman was able to find for us:

Option A:
Glacier Many Mountains Lodge 4 nights July 4-8
Grand Tetons Grand Teton Lodge 4 nights July 9-13
Rocky Mountain National Park July 14-17 (Best Western in Estes)

Option B:
Inn at Apgar Glacier 2 nights June 16-18
SwiftRunning Motor Lodge 3 nights June 18-20

We would have preferred nicer hotels in option B, but will hope for cancellations. Advantage is they are in East and West of Park. Less crowded in June?

Option A: nicer hotel
more crowded?

All thoughts and suggestions would be appreciated. We have decided to limit Yellowstone to driving to.
We are including Colorado for family reasons, but if husband's work demands, we will eliminate it.

Option A if you can afford it. There may still be snow at the top of Logan Pass (Going to the Sun Highway) on June 18.
Are you flying into the area or driving your own car?
Please don't get stuck with a big drop fee on a rental car.
If you don't find what you want in or very close to the park, I really like the Meadow Lake Resort in Columbia Falls.

Plan to fly in to Glacier drive to Wyoming and Colorado and drop off in Denver.
How bad would drop fee be?

Is snow on top of pass a bad thing?

You'll have to check with 2 or 3 rental car companies about how much of a drop fee they charge for dropping in another state.
It would be best if you can drive all the way across the GTTS road instead of driving US 2 on the south edge of the park.
It might be cheaper or easier to return the car to Kalispell and then fly to Denver and rent another car to go to Estes.

Count on 8+ hours to get from Glacier to the Tetons.

Your plan is to visit Yellowstone by driving from Grand Teton? Its a long drive and will eat up a lot of your day. Try looking for lodging in Gardiner for the northen part of Yellowstone and W. yellowstone if you must. Then keep calling every day for cancellations inside the park.
