Girls Getaway Suggestions?- Wisconsin Dells
 

Hi! My three sisters and I (30 somethings) are thinking about a girls getaway long weekend to Wisconsin Dells in May/June. Specifically, we were looking at Sundara Inn and Spa and although that's still an option, I am realizing that there are many other lodging options in the area. Perhaps it would make sense to look at other lodging and just go to the fancy spa one of our three days?

We will probably have a car and I'm not familiar with the area so I'm not sure how far away things are located. Here's the kind of stuff we'd like to do: go to a nice, quiet spa, hit the retail outlets, grown-up pool time (depending on weather), maybe golf (we're beginners and I saw that one of the courses has a short hole family course).

Any suggestions? Does it just make more sense to stay at Sundara? Or should we rent a place and drive to the above destinations?

If I were going just with adults, I would stay at Sundara. The other major resorts in the Dells are very family oriented. The pool areas are waterparks. They are somewhat quieter on weekdays, with more professional conferences and less families. The Kalahari is also a nice option, but family-oriented. There really isn't much shopping in the Dells.

Have you looked at the American Club in Kohler? Pricier, but it has everything you are looking for.

I don't think that "30's something" would enjoy Wisconsin Dells. It's a great place for youngsters. The posters recommendation of the American Club in Kohler as an alternative is a good one.

Are you kidding? Who takes those youngsters? There's plenty for adults without kids - Upper Dells boat tours, Ducks (land and water WW II vehicles), Tommy Bartlett Water Show, the mystery place, a couple of nice dinner restaurants, walking main street, and the water parks.

I'm in my 50's and am planning a quick trip with my 20's daughters. It's a fun getaway.

Thanks for the advice everyone. As it turns out, my sisters bailed on me but my husband and I made it a great three day get away. Sundara was beautiful (food was good from a new chef who arrived in October, I believe. Pricey and limited selection but very tasty). We spent most of the time by the pool and it was very serene, although I did sneak away for a quick trip to the outlets.

Next time I will have to check out the American Club in Kohler. Thanks again!
