Geyserville - Good Location for Vacation Rental?

My husband, parents, and I are planning a 5 night stay in CA over Christmas 2007. Ideally we would find a house to share for between $400 and $450 total in Healdsburg proper, but I'm finding that's a tall order.

I have found a few suitable rentals a few miles from Healdsburg, but I also found one in Geyserville that has the amenities and price we're interested in. The Geyserville rental claims it is located in-town and walking distance to "dining and wine tasting rooms." I don't remember stopping in Geyserville on our last trip to Sonoma (in December 2006).

For those of you familiar with the area, is Geyserville a nice location for a rental, or is it really best to find something in/near Healdsburg?

There isn't much in Geyserville. There may be 1 restaurant and 1 tasting room in town. There are about a dozen good restaurants in Healdsburg, plus many cute stores, cafes/coffee shops, Downtown Bakery, etc.

Thanks, Stu. The other vacation rental I am interested in is only 1 mile from Healdsburg and I just learned it is available. I think that might be the better location.

As Christmas can be a very rainy time of year here, be cautious as to where your rental is in relation to the Russian River.
We lost a bridge last Christmas and it was out for 6 mos. It's not typical, but...

You will probably like Healdsburg better,
although Geyserville is pretty cute.

Hmmm...The house I like is 30 steps away from the river. The owner says the house is located only one mile from the 101 freeway and one mile from Healdsburg plaza, but didn't give me more info. I'll give her a call when I ask about rates, etc., and ask about their exact location.

Thanks for the tip.

Check out www.HealdsburgRentals.com and see what they might have for you. Also www.Healdsburgrealty.com ... you never know what is available. Dec. is rainy season around here... but it can be lovely too... but just in case it rains, make sure you can get in and out of the house you are renting.

Very close friends of ours live in a place that may be close to the house you are considering in Healdsburg. Our friends live adjacent to the Madrona Manor. Pass the address and name of the proprietor to me at [email protected] & I'll see if they know the property or proprietor.
