What pray tell are you going to take a picture of at night? Sneak up on a cannon and pop it with a flash?
Yes, the battlefield is haunted. The dead of Pickett's charge are still trying. Listen and you can hear the screams. Also, there are Yellow Jackets crossed with Vampires all over the place. They come out and night
looking for Bulldawgs. Contact Sonny Seiler and get some repellant that you can spray on your hat.

I certainly don't know what you will take pictures of, but yes, the battlefield is accessible at night. My husband and I firmly believe in ghosts and all the stories that you hear about Gettysburg. We drove the battlefield at night and heard things that we will never in a million years be able to explain.

Many (to many) years ago when I was about 15 or so, my family vacationed in Gettysburg one summer. I recall driving the battlefield at night which was eerie enough, but then a thunderstorm rolled in. Let me tell you, it was really scary. Like Ilisa, we saw and heard things we will never forget. Sounds like an X-file to me.

We were at Gettysburg in October and we did drive the battlefield at night (including Spangler's Spring which is east of the main body of the battlefield).

The battlefield closes at 10:00 PM so be sure and be out by then. The most amazing thing we found was the number of people, both alone and in groups, walking the battlefield at night (especially Spangler's Spring). Also a funny thing to witness, is all the flashes of light over and thru the trees (thought it was lightning at first then realized it was people with their flash cameras). We even came up behind a horse drawn carriage in Spangler's Spring and the 4 girls riding in it were hanging out of the carriage, pointing their cameras in all directions and just popping off shots all over the place.

The only "incident" we had there at night was when we were at Devil's Den. We were the only ones there and I was going to try and pop off a shot in the dark to see what showed up. Only problem was, I couldn't override the "auto" program on my camera to "manual". I had never had the problem before or since. I will add, my husband, who is a skeptic, would not get out of the car at Devil's Den. Also, when we went to leave, I had accidentally left the trunk lid cracked (from getting my cameras) and I was the one who had to get out of the car and shut it - he wouldn't get out of the car. He also made the comment "You couldn't pay me to live out here".
