Getting to NY form NJ

Hi,
I am planning to stay with my husband and daughters at Residence Inn Secaucus Meadowlands Hotel, address is 800 Plaza Drive, Secaucus, NJ, 07094. I plan to go to the Radio City Hall Christmas show at night around the holidays. Any commuting suggestions? don't want to take the car into the city.

I can drive to a train station that takes me into the city , the closest one I see in the map is North Bergen Tonnelle Avenue Station. Would a train from here take me close to Radio City?

Other suggestions on where to have a nice family dinner and reasonable price before we go to the show?

Thanks in advance
Beth

NJ Transit trains all come into Penn Station which is about a mile from Radio City Music Hall. If the weather is good you can walk - or you may want to grab a cab. but be aware that the cab line at Penn Station that time of year can be 30 minutes or even more. You can also take the subway - but for 4 people don;t know if it makes sense.

NJ Transit is primarily for commuters so don;t know:

How often the train will run back to NJ in the later evenings

If you can park the car there coming into the city (some lots are for local residents only - with a sticker) and many are full with commuter cars before 8 am.

I would contact your hotel to find out the details of the most efficient way to get to and fro that specific hotel. Bus from Port Authority (about 10 blocks from Radio City) might be a better option.

Secaucus junction is probably the busiest station for NJ transit trains in NJ.

As for your dining options, "reasonable price" is too ephemeral to address, state how much you're willing to spend.

That Tonnelle Avenue train won't go to NYC. It's a local line that will make you change in Hoboken for the PATH to NYC. (see here: http://www.njtransit.com/pdf/LightRa...r_hblr_map.pdf)

NJT from Secaucus Junction is a straight shot to Penn station, one stop only. Check the schedules.
