Getting Nervous abt Lodging Accomadations In NYC
 

Guys & Gals, I'm working feverishly on getting our lodging for 9 nights in NYC, my bidding is not going well. I tried a website recommended by one of you out there, and they have responded w/ an apartment, full separate kitchen and comfy room located West 72nd near Broadway, is this a good location? Also they quoted me $1092.00 for the entire stay, no tax? is this worth it? please give me some scoop? thanks to all!!!

Neighborhood is fine with excellent public transportation. Lots of restaurants, places to shop. If you post the address maybe some west siders are familiar with the building. This is a relatively high rent area but almost every building is pre WW II. How well the building and the apartment have been mainitained could be a factor.

72nd & Broadway is a good location for all the reasons posted above. It is a desirable neighborhood and close to Central Park. It will be a short cab or subway ride to the theatre district and a short walk to 5th Ave shopping. <BR> <BR>That being said, 72nd street and Broadway are both major thoroughfares and the room is likely to be very noisy. My DH used to live on 72nd near B'way and refers to that time of his life as when he lived in the Indy 500. <BR> <BR>I don't know about bidding on priceline or the other websites people have recommended, but it does seem that many people posting on this site have gotten some great deals at the NY Hilton, the Roosevelt, the Marriott Marquis and other hotels. You might also look into the Fitzpatrick -- they have 2 locations -- it is a lovely, smaller, Irish hotel that is conveniently located (both are, really). <BR> <BR>Good luck & enjoy your visit!

Location good as others have mentioned, but try to get a specific address. Maybe it's the Hotel Olcott, on 72nd between Columbus & CPW (a block or two off broadway)? It's part residential (I used to have a friend who lived there, a young professional woman, but most of the residents looked liked well-heeled elderly women) part 'regular hotel' (and since they are apartments, generally for longer terms than a day or two)

The neighborhood is known for the famous building, the dakota, where john lennon was shot. all that aside, it's a very good area and being near the park is great.

Go to www.BiddingForTravel.com and look in the hotels section under NY. You will find this website to be very helpful. I bid for a 4* hotel in the midtown east for $95 and got the W New York Hotel for 5 nights.
