getting from ft lauderdale to ft meyers
 

Hi there, I'm going to be ending my cruise in Ft Lauderdale on a friday in April in the am and want to go to Ft Meyers to catch a spring training game at 1pm. I also will be leaving ft Lauderdale early Saturday morning by plane. Is there any way I could rent a car and return it by say 8 or 9 at night back in Ft Lauderdale? I tried Budget and they close at 6pm. Also how long of a drive is it from Ft Lauderdale to Ft Meyers? I heard around 2 hours, just seeing if that's true.

The drive to Fort Myers is indeed around 2 hours. Try Enterprise. Also, you should be able to rent a car at any time from the airport. Some of them even work with baby rental places for car seats and strollers like babyborrow.com and kiddstuff.com. Hope this helps!

If you rent from one of the in-airport agencies, you should be able to return the morning of the flight out. Many are open 25 hours.

Perhaps you need to be a die hard baseball fan to be willing to do this trip, but I think it's a bit crazy to do in the same day--2+ hrs. there and 2+ hrs. back. You might want to look into a shuttle service to Naples airport and then rent a car from there. Or pick a game for a team on the east coast.
