getting around Chicago

Three people will be traveling from the Allegro Hotel, 171 W. Randolph Street to the Water Towr at Michigan Ave and Chicago Avenue, next Friday about 9:15AM.

Taxi or public transit?

Cab. Have the concierge arrange for one for your party. Don't try to flag one down on the street at that time in the morning - especially if it's raining.

Take a taxi. Should cost less than $10 for the 3 of you.

As a Chicagoan, I would say . . . walk. But if you're in a hurry or the weather's bad, then take a cab. It will be cheap and there isn't a direct way to get from your hotel to water tower via public transit without involving a decent amount of walking (but, fyi, to get there via public transit, I would walk from your hotel east on Randolph to State St., get on the red line going North and get off at the Chicago stop).
